the mulligan stew of blog posts

While Nate and I are killing some time, I have some random points to make:

1. I've been wrong about one of my favorite song lyrics. I always thought that Elvis Costello was saying "when I was wrong, in who I trusted..." in "what's so funny about peace, love and understanding?" (I know Nick Lowe wrote it, but who listens to his version?). Apparently the line is actually "so where are the strong, and who are the trusted?" Weak. I think my line is way better.

2. I don't care how many VMA awards Panic! at the Disco won (not that I watched the VMAs). They suck. Just look at them:


3. Thinking of Panic! as a "buzz band" somehow led me to think of how good we had it when the buzz band was "My Chemical Romance." They can bring the melodrama like nobody's business and they don't wear top hats. I mean, they made a WWII video, which I am totally into. If I could forget the first music video I ever saw "Take On Me" by A-Ha, it might be my favorite music video. I felt very dated when I realized that that cd came out in 2004. Fourteen year olds probably don't even know who they are now. Too bad I didn't appreciate them more when they were actually around. If I had only known I would have to hear Fall Out Boy, Panic! at the Disco, She Wants Revenge (yeah, they're not that bad), and AFI with their new female lead singer (hardy har), I would've had some "my chemical romance" tshirt. Their website is still listing the WWII video as new, so who know where they are. I hope they're coming back, and that they still dress well.


4. Speaking of AFI, I may have posted this before but that "Miss Murder" song cracks me up because I have no idea what Davey Havoc is saying in the chorus. I've made up my own lyrics based on what I hear:

pain is my broken eye
pain is moroccan eyes
do you miss afi?
take my life
whooooaaaa!

I don't even want to know what the real ones are.
