Holy Land USA

I was checking Roadside America for any possible crazy places that may be near Nate's cousin's wedding this weekend and Holy Land USA showed up on the map. I had already read all about the place on Roadside America and had heard about it from one of my grad school professors, so someday I hope to see it. Unfortunately, hoodlums have been doing their best to destroy the place since it closed in 1984. It seems like you may very well get stabbed if you go there, especially into the underground catacombs. I'm not religious, but it still makes me very depressed to live in a time where people gleefully destroy religious imagery that someone cared enough to build from scratch. The guy that started Holy Land USA obviously cared a lot about the project to build "hundreds of structures, grottos and educational dioramas, using discarded plywood, tin siding, chicken wire, cement and fragments of religious statuary." The hoodlum teenagers destroying the place for the past 20 years should be ashamed of themselves. I hope all their mailboxes get smashed at the very least.
